Teacher Dara

If you’re talking in class with Dara and notice something strange about her accent, you’re not mistaken. A-boot, saw-rry and eh are par for the course with this Canadian by birth who moved to Walla Walla, WA in July 2015.

An elementary school teacher by training and now a career mom, Dara discovered the Music Together® Program in 2015, while searching for an educational and fun activity to do with her infant son. From her very first experience, she was smitten. Everything about the class was joyful and satisfying: the songs, the movement, her son’s reactions and interactions, the learning moments, and all the music-making! It was incredibly nourishing for body, heart, mind and soul–of both baby and mama.

October 25, 2018-Dara_Headshot - 50 mm-6Through the Music Together classes, Dara reconnected with her childhood love of singing and decided to weave it together with her teaching experience to become a Registered Music Together Teacher. In the classroom, Dara buoyantly shares her passion for this program and all the benefits it imparts to children and families. In particular, she believes strongly in the birthright of every child to be exposed to music and to engage in music learning, because making and participating in music is an essential and beautiful part of being human.

Outside of class you can find Dara nestled away in her cabin in the woods with her son, Boden and husband, Jesse. During her precious moments of free time she enjoys digging in the dirt, hunting for local wildlife with her son, reading, sewing and living room dance parties!
